Shitake is a mushroom that grows on tree trunks, whose name in Dutch means “bench of the elves”. Marcel Wanders experiments with the potential of rotational molding, designing a stool with an irregular and ironic shape that recalls the shape of a mushroom. The object is irreverent, fun, made precious by the surface processing, decorated as if it were covered with a relief embroidery. The interior is hollow and is closed with an openable cap, in order to fill the stool with water, sand or other materials.
