Milan Design Week 2022

After a two-year break, the Milan International Furniture Fair is back and we went to discover the news from the world of design and of our favorite interior furniture brands.

Let’s start with a hot and more current topic than ever, that of sustainability, with Lago.

This year, the modular and unconventional Italian design brand presented itself with a multi-year stand, Good House, which reduces CO2 emissions by up to 87% compared to a traditional one, thanks to the elimination of waste and almost total abatement of weight and volume of the materials it is made of. In this exhibition area of eight hundred square meters Lago presented the novelties of the 2022 collection. He called Animal Zero the new textures inspired by the world of nature, in which, thanks to the proven X Glass technology, the suggestive skins of snakes and crocodiles cover the monolithic and formally perfect glass surfaces of LAGO products. This is the main novelty of this year for Lago furnishings, a design that brings nature to life at home, avoiding any mistreatment of the animal, where textures with exotic atmospheres, on sideboards, tables and consoles, transmit the typical explosive sensuality of these animals, inviting you to enter the profound landscape of contemporary furniture.

We continue our journey with the news from Moroso.

Here too we find a strong call to sustainability through the installation created by Kvadrat for Moroso. The walls of the Milanese showroom were in fact made with a special material created from textile waste. This scenography highlighted the new products presented in this edition of the Fuori Salone of the Milanese design week. Among these, the Pebble Rubble system of seats and ottomans stood out, which looked like rocks smoothed by the wind and rain, again a strong reference to the world of nature and its energy; and the colorful Anorak sofas, presented in three bright different colors to highlight their main quality: wearability. Also in this Salone Moroso highlighted his propensity for study and experimentation in the field of contemporary design, giving voice to projects rich in meaning and to designers who wish to express their art through surprising furnishings.

From a point next to the name of the Kartell brand, the idea for this Salone del Mobile 2022 was born.

The point that Kartell uses for its Design Week is a clear demarcation mark, which indicates an arrival and departure in being and doing business, industry, design, creativity, shops, digital, events, people, environment, materials. A transition point that brings together what has been said and done up to now and in which the design foundations reside and what Kartell will have to say and do today, tomorrow and in our near future. The company presented this with concrete projects, with the continuous desire for research and expression of beauty, with the combination of technology, culture and sustainability. The latter has become a supporting pillar for the brand and in fact among the new projects, it presented in particular the collaboration with Illy Caffè in which the Rechair chair, designed by Antonio Citterio, is made using the waste of recycled Illy Iperespresso coffee capsules. . This collaboration represents the direction that Kartell wants and is undertaking, a virtuous model of circular economy that hopefully will also expand to other objects in the collection.
